Against School by John Taylor Gatto

Unlike the author I think that it is very important for us to maintain a public school system. it unfortunate that we have teachers in the public school districts that do not value their work and do the bare minimum amount for their students when they should be doing beyond that. Boredom is a large use and I agree with the author in terms of how boredom has a negative impact on schools and how it can be found everywhere. I also agree with the author in terms how childish some of the adults in a school building can be and that also has a negative impact on the students. Schools lack a lot of discipline and I believe that teachers often fail to hold students accountable for their actions. I also believe and have see lack of communication lines between the students and their teachers.
      Do we need school? yes we do because this is the way our civilization designed the method of distributing education. Education is very! very! important and is essential to having a successful society. Only through education we are able to maintain economies and make cultural differences.However, we must correct the format of our educational system. We have to make sure that new graduate teachers are well informed and well trained to take on the responsibilities of what it really means to be a teacher. We must make sure that schools hire people that are qualified for the job and continue to be qualified for the job. We must emphasize the importance of differentiated instruction, open communication and effective bond between the teachers, administration staff and the students.A school should work as a team and help each other progress.
